Event Description : EXHIBITION
"The Altered Perspective" Solo show of Ceramic Sculptures by Dipalee Daroz

A distinguished of artistic creation of beautiful ceramic sculptures will be exhibited by artist Dipalee Daroz in her solo exhibition - "The Altered Perspective" .

In this exhibition her sculptures have panoptic view of incongruous elements are intended through the current body of works exhibited. A transition of context is implied through the use of inherent textures and properties of clay graduating into natural forms and objects, thus creating an optical depth between the natural and the real. Dipalee's sculptures represents her psyche of looking at the things which turn out to be more ambiguous and figurative in its own way. Viewers can easily give shape to her sculptures depending upon their understanding and objectives through which they catch a glimpse of the displayed sculptures.

" I seek to unearth the forms intrinsic to my psyche with which I intuitively identify as an artist " - said Dipalee Daroz

Just as the countless clock of nature ticks a different beat at different times affecting the  biological and psychological behavior of the organisms, so does a material transforms into a new entity within the framework of different cyclical time and space.

Dipalee has showcased multiple imagery surfaces from varying perspectives through her sculpture . At the crossroads of imagination, it enlarges upon the Indian worldview, which is both- panoramic and pluralistic.

The artist is influenced by Nature and reality. In her previous work ‘Sounding Clay’ her inspiration was a children’s movie called ‘Robot’. Relying more on kin aesthetic, this series articulates the metaphysical aspect of a simple cultural object and the desire to communicate the cohesiveness born out of the association between culture and nature signifying the symbols of cornucopia found in nature. Also Concealed behind these obvious forms laid the values of balance, space, grace and rhythm, which articulate the entire human life and nature.

Dipalee was greatly inspired and influenced by the renowned ceramic artist PR Daroz who went on to become her guide and mentor. She studied under Prof Takeshi Yasuda, a world renowned Japanese Ceramist, as part of the Charles Wallace Award.

About the artist : Dipalee Daroz has exhibited at numerous group and individual shows, with the most recent curated exhibitions being ‘Mutable’ at the Piramal Museum of Art in Mumbai (2017), ‘Transition/Tradition: Contemporary Ceramic Art of India and South Korea’ at Gallerie Nvya, New Delhi (2016), and ‘DiggingTime’ at Gallery Art Positive, New Delhi (2015), solo shows at Pundole Art Gallery, Mumbai (2002), solo show at Art Alive Gallery, New Delhi (2009). She has taught in the field and has assisted in the making of several documentaries on traditional Indian pottery.

This gifted potter wanted to learn, to absorb and to reinvent all that she had imbibed. Endowed with an analytical questioning mind and gifted hands, Dipalee searched and probed to find a path of her own: her perspective or perhaps “An Altered Perspective”.
