Event Description : British Council & Social present BAFTA award-winning Director Asif Kapadia’s movie "AMY- from Salvation to Disintegration"
British Council in partnership with Social presents AMY, an incredible story of six-time Grammy-winner Amy Winehouse from BAFTA award- winning Director Asif Kapadia(Senna). Showcased as a part of the UK/India year of culture, Amy is a modern and moving film that peeks into the world we live in.
Employing extensive unseen archived footage, the movie tells the incredible story of Amy Winehouse in her own words. A pure jazz artist in the most authentic sense, she used her musical gifts to analyse her own problems. The combination of her raw honesty and supreme talent resulted in some of the most unique and adored songs of modern era. Tragically, relentless media attention coupled with her troubled relationships led to her global success and precarious lifestyle falling apart. The talent that was initially her salvation eventually became the trigger for her collapse and Amy Winehouse died from alcohol poisoning in July 2011 at the age of 27.

UK/India2017 is a year-long celebration of the long-standing relationship between India and the UK, which will see a vast programme of cultural exchange and activity take place in cities across both countries. Working with a huge number of partners and institutions, the British Council is developing a programme of cultural activity which will connect and inspire people in both countries; and strengthen and celebrate the UK and India’s cultural ties.
