Event Description : BOOK LAUNCH / DANCE "Atman - Odissi Nritya Puran" and Odissi dance recital by the Nrityashilp Foundation.
The Nrityashilp, Guru Surendra Nath Jena Odissi Dance Foundation is organising a multi-dimensional cultural event that encompasses Indian poetry, culture and dance for the art lovers of Delhi.
Book Launch : 'Atman - Odissi Nritya Puran', a unique book is to be released at the event. It was written by late Odissi Guru Surendra Nath Jena in the last century, and is a great resource and a collector's item for dancers, readers, scholars and art connoisseurs. Awarded by the Sangeet Natak Akademi,
Guru Surendra Nath Jena, wrote in poetic verse, about the history of Odisha, and the technique and aesthetics of Odissi. Translated from Oriya poetry to English by Swaati Chattopadhyay, the book is a landmark in Indian cultural thought and an beautifully crafted product with exquisite visuals.
Dance Recital : The cultural evening will also have an Odissi dance recital that presents this beautiful poetry through Odissi dance compositions. Senior artistes, under Guru Pratibha Jena Singh; Aastha Gandhi, Natalia Belchenko, Raudri Singh and Swaati Chattopadhyay alongwith young disciples tradition will come together to pay a poetic tribute to Guru Surendra Nath Jena.

About the Foundation: The Nrityashilp Dance Foundation was established in 2008, under the leadership of Guru Pratibha Jena Singh. It archives, promotes, educates and spreads awareness about the Guru Surendra Nath Jena style of Odissi in India and across the world through festivals, workshops, seminars and dance events. In 2016, it organised a two-day, International Odissi Dance Festival for the dance lovers of Delhi at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi.
