Event Description : MOVIE : Open Air Film Night : Strange Tales and Goosebumps

This edition presents Strange Tales and Goosebumps, three films that capture the spirit of Halloween and will unsettle, scare and thrill!

Uncanny isn’t the same as scary: films can be scary simply by using loud noises and sudden movements to make audiences jump; they can play on primal fears and physical reactions; the uncanny horror films, the films that are psychologically unsettling and terrifying, leave you in a permanent state of unease when watching them. Afterwards, they quietly creep inside your head; weeks later, in the dead of night when you least expect it, the memory of them will suddenly leap out and scare you all over again.

"Funny Games", directed by the Austrian filmmaker Michael Haneke, has always been a controversial film for its disturbing display of violence. A young family of three is taking their vacation in a remote cottage at a lake. Shortly after their arrival, two decent looking men appear at the cottage, introduce themselves politely and ask for a couple of eggs. But soon, the atmosphere shifts, and the neighbourly visit becomes something threatening. The two young men lock up the family and take their time to play a cruel and sadistic game; will the family survive?

Die Präsenz (The Presence)
Directed by Stefan Mohr (Germany, colour, 97 min., 2014)

In his studies of anthropology, Markus is dealing with popular superstitions and the Poltergeist phenomenon. When his friend Lukas hears about a remote castle which is said to be haunted, Markus wants to take the opportunity to record something paranormal and they decide to spend a week there. His girlfriend Rebecca is not let in on the plan until the three are on their way. What seems to be fun at the beginning, becomes deadly serious very soon: something demonic is haunting the place and things soon spiral out of control…

The movie is shot in the found-footage style to capture the deadly events.
