Event Description :
The Art Life Gallery presents "Lost In Time" a 12 day-long solo show of miniature paintings, by veteran artist BL Rajput.

There are 80 paintings on display which showcase the works from the Kangra, Kishangarh, Deccan, Jaipur and Udaipur style. The show was inaugurated today by Padma Bhushan Sri Ram V Sutar.
The show will continue for 12 days till August 16, 2017. The gallery timings are from 10 am to 6pm for viewing the show.  "The paintings are beautiful and very painstakingly done. However, one must continue to make art whether it sells or not," was Sutar's comment for the scene in art market.
" It is essential  to make the public aware of the beautiful visual art forms which if not patronised may gradually result in the extinction of the art form," says Pratibha Agarwal, co-founder and co-director of the gallery, explaining the theme of the show.
"We are facing various challenges regarding the revival of traditional art forms which are painstakingly practised over generations," says  the artist BL Rajput, whose sons have not taken up art because they did not find it monetarily satisfying.
Miniature paintings are beautiful  paintings, which are quite colourful but small in size. The highlight of these paintings is the intricate and delicate brushwork, which lends them a unique identity. The colours are handmade from minerals, vegetables, precious stones, indigo, conch shells, pure gold and silver.

Subjects of miniature paintings are Krishna Leela (Sports of Krishna), raga raginis (musical melodies), nayika bheda (different classes of heroines)  and panchatantra . The paintings also give an insight into the life of the royals and the common man, the beauty of their womenfolk and the inspirations and devotions of the artists themselves.  Music is associated with paintings here. The different ragas were considered appropriate with different seasons.  The order of seasons are Bhairav, Malava, Sri-raga, Hindola or Vasant , Dipak and Megha  each of which is wedded to the five Raginis or nymphs of harmony presenting wonderfully diverse image for the artist's imagination.
