She will be performing a dance recital over the confluence of Raag, Taal and Dance movements through a sargam in Raag Abhogi where she will be denoting it to Lord Krishna in her dance performance with graceful footwork and hand movements. The production will be showcasing the Kathak by Jayashree and her disciples Kanchan Kandalp, Elisha Deep Garg, Nandini Sharma and Gauri Sharma.

Along with her, contributing to the performance will be Shiv Shankar Roy on Tabla, Amitava Majumdar on Sarod, and Vocal by Sumit Misra.

Concept & Choreography : Jayashree Acharya

As a kathak artist and teacher, she has been based in Gurugram since 2004, and has made it her home and her karmabhoomi. The city’s well-educated and well-travelled audience deserves a rich cultural experience that goes beyond the existing ‘mall culture’ and connects to the deep roots of Indian heritage and culture in a land where once the Mahabharata is believed to have happened.

With the blessings of her guru Pandit Birju Maharaj ji, she has been successful in training a group of dedicated young dancers in Gurugram as well as raising awareness about the Indian classical sangeet and nrittya through baithaks, workshops and performances. In the last 13 years, with the support of her family, well wishers and, more recently, under the aegis of her non – profit organisation Rasik Performing Arts, with over 25 events held and 150 dancers trained in kathak. Her dance group has been invited to perform at local, national and international locations including at the prestigious Khajuraho Dance Festival and at London’s Nehru Centre.
