Pascualnama” by Camilo José Cela and presented by Third Space Collective, directed by Dhwani Vij

As part of 'Literature and Thinking' Series.

Synopsis: The Family of Pascual Duarte by Camilo Jose Cela, is an iconic novel in Spanish
literature. Owning to its dark and gruesome imagery, the text was banned upon its release.
Pascual Duarte, a poor peasant in a nameless Spanish village, retells his crual upbringing and brutal murders. The narration is happening from a prison cell where he has been condemned to death. The text is bracketed by letters written by the prison guard, warden etc, who are working towards getting this manuscript published. Our production aims to relook at Pascual’s relationship with his mother and his wife, Lola. The performance brings to life the underlying strains that define these relationships, thereby breaking the calm denemour that Pascual wants to reserve in his retellings. From performing his narrative, Pascual ends up himself being performed. We welcome you to lose your head with us.
About the performers: Third Space Collective (TSC). We are a collective of theatre
