Event Description :
THEATRE : Theatreworms Productions presents "Flesh" English Play

After full-house shows and overwhelming responses, Theatreworms Productions brings back “FLESH” a play based on the book titled ‘The Pregnant King’ written by the celebrated author Devdutt Pattanaik. The play is directed by Kaushik Bose. FLESH is a sub-story of Mahabharata in which Yuvanashva, a childless king, accidentally drinks a magic potion meant to make his queens pregnant and gives birth to a son. This opens up new dimensions of gender identity for Yuvanashva. Is he the child's father or mother? Will his situation be accepted by the society at large?

FLESH not just explores the complex nature of gender roles but also gives profound perspectives on dharma - its rigidity and fluidity, the dynamic nature of matter and the static nature of the soul, its various symbolism, and 'the imperfection of the human condition'. It is a critical and relevant piece of work that reflects the times we are living in.

Original Author : Dr. Devdutt Pattanaik

Script and Direction : Kaushik Bose
