Event Description : DOC FILM : FDZone presents "Floating Life (Phum Shang)" Manipuri with Eng-subtitled film. 

In 2011, Manipur government burnt down hundreds of huts in Loktak Lake, North East India, in the pretext of cleaning the lake and blaming the locals for the pollution of the lake. Thousands of fishermen were displaced, rendered homeless and their livelihood snatched. These fishermen continue to fight a losing battle, where the authorities do not even recognize their native belongingness & livelihood rights with reference to the lake as they were living on floating huts built on floating biomass or ‘Phumdis’.
