Get Offline is a series of candid and real discussions with those in the know! As a part of the series, antiSOCIAL brings together concerned spirits across communities who use creativity and communication as a tool to address real life challenges facing our growing cities. By hacking the systems that run our cities, they are building a culture to help create an inspiring, habitable and inclusive city. An open for all event, anyone can productively be part of the discussions.

The upcoming discussion focusses on Menstrual Health Management, Cultural taboos, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Facilities in Schools and the Role of Men.

The panellists addressing the issue are Kamini Prakash who is currently a Technical Officer - Equality and Non-Discrimination with The Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council (WSSCC). She has also worked with Pravah, a non-profit, supporting young social entrepreneurs and building youth leadership for social change. Sanchita Ghosh, a behavior change communications practitioner with extensive experience in behavior change processes. She provides support to the Government of India’s flagship program Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) to achieve a Clean India by 2019 and Arundhati Muralidharan, a Manager Policy (WASH in Health & Nutrition, and Schools) at WaterAid India. She has 15 years of experience as a public health practitioner and qualitative researcher with expertise in menstrual health and hygiene management, gender and sanitation, and sexual and reproductive health.

About the organisations:

The Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council (WSSCC) is a United Nations membership organization that advocates for improved sanitation and hygiene for the most vulnerable and marginalized people around the world.

WSSCC’s main areas of focus are large-scale sanitation and hygiene behaviour change programmes through the Global Sanitation Fund; promoting sanitation and hygiene as the gateway to inclusion and opportunity; and bringing together leaders and activists to strengthen the global sanitation movement.

WaterAid is an international non-profit organization that was set up in 1981 as a response to the UN International Drinking Water & Sanitation decade (1981–1990).
The main thrust of WaterAid India’s projects is to advocate the use of latrines and to provide hygiene education with training manuals to the poorer and less educated areas. It aims to bring across the detrimental effects of poor hygiene; such as diseases, loss of efficiency and high expenses in the form of costly medicine. WaterAid India hopes to inspire local communities to develop their own cost effective solutions to the existing problems.
