Event Description : EXHIBITION “The Past Was Yesterday” a solo show by artist Akhilesh
Akhilesh-Artworks Renowned artist Akhilesh is celebrating a landmark event in his life, his 60th birth anniversary or Shasti Poorti, with an exhibition of paintings, drawings and sculptures titled “The Past Was Yesterday”  beginning on the 5th of January, 2017 at Aakriti Art Gallery Pvt.Ltd., New Delhi. 

Based in Bhopal, Akhilesh has had a distinguished career that has spanned almost forty years. He had done prestigious solo shows in international art centres across the world, where he also trained young minds. Apart from his endeavours in art, Akhilesh has published a number of books that have been extremely well-received, including a work titled ‘Daraspothi’ for which he received the Vagishwari Puruskar in 2013. He has been a part of Bharat Bhavan and played a crucial role in its management.

He is the recipient of several awards including the Kalidas Academy Certificate Award, the Camlin Award, the Government of India Senior Artist Fellowship and the prestigious Kala Kaustubh Summan awarded in 2006, among others. 

The Past Was Yesterday is a show that traces the artist’s long and illustrious career and includes works from the early phases of his life to recent times. Akhilesh has won respect and recognition for his original work and ideas and it is for the first time that viewers will get an opportunity to see the vast range of paintings, spanning the length and breadth of his repertoire.
