Anant gatha is a succesful attempt to bring back the magic of full length concerts, thus featuring one maestro only in one evening. So far, Anant Gathan has travelled to Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Ahmedabad apart from Delhi and has featured maestros like Ustad Rashid Khan, Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia, Pt. Shivkumar Sharma,
Vidwan T. M. Krishna, Pt. Chhannulal Mishra and Pt. Anindo Chatterjee through this series.
The latest edition of Anant Gatha in Delhi will feature yet another popular maestro of our country, Ustad Rashid Khan.
About Anant Gatha:
Over the past few decades we have witnessed ‘shortening and quickening’ of almost all aspects of life. The world of music is no exception. As per the demands of the present times, there are usually 3 or even 4 performers in one evening. While this has its own merits; the real connoisseurs are missing the era when each artist had ample time and hence the liberty to unfold the chosen raga in all its grandeur, with deep meditativ aalaaps for an hour or may be more; create the ambience seeped into the mood and then proceed to the next part so that all could experience the music in its totality. It is with this aim of recreating the magic of a full length concert of the bygone era, that Anant Gatha was launched in Mumbai featuring ONE MAESTRO in ONE EVENING two years back and has so far received an overwhelming response from music lovers in all the cities it has travelled to.
Ustad Rashid Khan
Ustad Rashid Khan, is undoubtedly is among the finest and most sought after vocalists of India today. He has included the slow elaboration in his vilambit khayals in the manner of his maternal uncle and also developed exceptional expertise in the use of sargams and sargam taankari. He is also extremely adept in producing all the other techniques and characteristic features of the Rampur Sahaswan style. He is also a master of the tarana like his guru but sings them in his own manner, preferring the khayal style rather than the instrumental stroke-based style for which Ustad Nissar Hussain sahib was famous.
