Event Description : TALK : Development Alternatives presents "Trialogue 2047 on Urban Affordable Housing: Decoupling Material Resources"
In the present development trajectory, India is at a crucial juncture where the nation is required to meet the demands of a population of over 1.2 billion along with ensuring environmental sustainability. The growth trajectory has so far, resulted in over-exploitation of finite resources thus resulting in tremendous environmental degradation
.
Through this trialogue 2047 we aim to explore the extent to which decoupling may become a mainstream approach with the current state of technology and practice in the construction sector, the market or policy instruments that can influence the choice of technology and materials in building construction, and the kind of solutions (financial, technical, political etc.) that we need to promote ‘decoupling’ of material resource in this sector.
Speakers:
Background: trialogue 2047 is a series of intellectual encounters that envisions a century of India as a nation, going beyond the conventional two-sided debate format. trialogue 2047 aims to be a forum that can engage with a well-informed audience to identify new directions India must choose and the policies and measures it must adopt to accelerate a transition towards a sustainable tomorrow. Previous trialogue 2047 discussions included topics such as Beyond Growth, Principles of Policy Making, Renewable Energy, Climate Change in South Asia, Means of Implementation, Building a Sustainable Future, and Transforming the Development Paradigm.
