Event Description : EXHIBITION "Booked | Books Meet Art" a group art show (Drawing, Painting, Sculpture, Installation, Artist Book, Prints, Digital Art...)
A Book is imagination put into words. A writer may imagine his words in pictures before he writes a book.
Art is imagination put into pictures. An artist often conceptualizes his work in words before he paints it.
Books begin with words but as we read they generate imagery in our minds. As we look at a work of art we try to put together words to understand it.
Discover how artists interpreted this concept as they worked towards this show - some creating works of art based on Kalidasa’s Shakuntalam, The Mahabharata or rural fork-lores while for some it was a starting point of an installation. Essentially, works have been selected for their narrative or story telling content or where they show an interesting connection with books.
Displayed alongside are several, very personal artists’ books never seen before. Also displayed are some rare prints of the Baburnama, a book by KG Subramanyan with his collection of poems and many more.
Some of us are book lovers, and some, lovers of art and through this show where Books meet Art, we hope to create new synergies and appreciation of new mediums.
Participating Artists : Seema Kohli, Shridher Iyer, Durga Kainthola, Kanchan Chander, Pallav Chander, Nayanaa Kanodia, Mukesh Sharma, Ankon Mitra, Antonio Puri, Harshavardhan D, Aditee Aggarwal, Anjali Goel, Pankaj Guru, Bhola Kumar, HK Monee, Heleni Tsiapara Stoeling, Jagmohan Bangani, Krushna Sahu, Mainaz Bano, Meenakshi J, Nikheel Aphale, Pranati Das, Ritu Pandey, Sahaya Sharma, Santosh Jain, Debjani Bhardwaj & Deepa J
