Event Description : The Hungry Monkey and Art Collide present a new amalgam of international artists, Latin Jazzers, sure to get you swinging.

The Latin Jazzers are an explosive mix of Latin and Jazz colours bringing together artists from Argentina, the US and México. A unique trío formed around the flamenco guitar (Daniel-México), Latin percussion (Edu-Argentina) and enchanting mandoline (Galen-USA), brings us a striking fusion of styles that ranges from the Argentinian Tango, Brazilian Bossanovas, Cuban Son, Mexican tunes, and Flamenco passionate strums to the dancing harmonies of Jazz.

A bit about the artists:
Daniel ‘Ravi’ Rangel
A versatile guitarist and prolific composer from México, Daniel began his music training in Flamenco and Classical guitar with the renowned Flamenco guitar player Fernando Martinez Peralta in Guadalajara, México. He went on to major in Composition in the Music Conservatory of Las Rosas in Morelia, Mexico. During this time he performed and composed for several projects in various Mexican cities. He recorded his own musical project “Radarama”, a fusion of several musical influences, which was premiered at the San Salvi Cultural Festival in Florence, Italy in the summer of 2010. Between 2008-2010 he was the lead guitarist for “Marasma Trio” performing in Mexico and Europe. Marasma Trio were acclaimed for their exploration of diverse musical styles from around the world.

In the November of 2010 he moved to India and started composing for various dance and music productions. He directed and co-composed the music for the acclaimed dance performances ‘Not Your Mothers' and ‘Beneath The Tamarind tree'. His fascination for the classical Indian music and Indian instruments led him to study the sitar. Daniel is the guitarist of the New Delhi based latin music band, 'Latinjam'. They premiered in Kamani auditorium in collaboration with ICCR, also performed at the World percussion festival in New Delhi, Alliance Francais of Chandigarh and several other platforms. As a member of PULSEnsamble, he collaborated with several musicians and dancers in New Delhi. On an aerial and music experiment with the aerialist and circus artist Shweta Garg, Circustrum was born. Circustrum is the merging and infusing of aerial tissues, rope and physical theatre with live music.

Eduardo Lastra
Edu is an Argentinian musician with a vast academic education in both Latin American and Hindustani percussion. He has performed across India, Europe and Latin America.

Galen Passen
Galen is a multitalented musician and composer. He began playing Western classical violin at a very young age. However, lured by the different sounds of Celtic music, jazz, and improvisation he switched to mandolin during his teen years. He has been living in New Delhi since 2009 where he is devoted to the study of Hindustani music on the sitar. Now with each foot in a different world of music and artistic aesthetic, he is able to call upon his extensive experience in order to produce a rich, fresh, and authentic sound.
Galen has worked extensively with many of the artists in Delhi's eclectic community including percussionist Fakhroddin Ghaffari and Delhi Dance Theatre, and is a key member of the collaborative musicians collective, Pulsensemble.
