The existing economic practices were developed when natural resources were plentiful, global population small, and natural resource consumption minuscule in relation to the reserves. That is no longer the case. In our economic models the revenues are captured but not the full costs. These costs will have to be paid at some stage by us and by our future generations. With our fast depleting natural resources and the threat of climate change, are our economic practices still relevant?
