  1. My experience with aarambh has been very disappointing. As my son turned three, I was looking for a good alternative school for my son - I did not want too much of academic pressure and I was looking for a place that would help him seamlessly transition from home to school - just some place where he will be treated gently. I am not particular about academic milestones at the nursery level and Aarambh seemed like a great place to start with - they seemed environmentally conscious and frugal, values that strongly resonated with me.

However, the schooling experience was less than satisfactory - my child was not happy about going to school initially and I took this as teething troubles and tried to coax and cajole him to go to school. However, a few weeks in, the nightmares about school started - I got a bit worried and approached the school for help. Everything went downhill from here - i shared the nightmare instance with the teacher and asked if i could have a phone conversation with her. The teacher looked highly reluctant to share her number and asked me to email her about my concerns instead. I insisted on a face to face conversation and finally she relented and we set up time. The meeting was not very useful - no tips or advice to sooth the child and the only take away at the end of the meeting was to share concerns on email. I was deeply disappointed with this lack of empathy and I realized that I had precisely put my child through an experience I was hoping to avoid.

While I am aware that there are a few parents who swear by the school, I am a parent where things did not work out. As a prospective parent, if you are looking at this school - seek feedback extensively before you decide to enroll. If you are given references to talk to - do ensure that these references are parents ( not founder-parents).It is an expensive school and I sincerely wish one does not realize this post facto, after putting the child through an experience that one is primarily seeking to avoid.

Also it is a bit of a weird cultish place. Also lacks basic infrastructure - a 3 year old who joins will observe teachers cutting vegetables and will wipe plates. That's it. Nothing beyond that. The school also lacks infrastructure - the children play in the sun and there is no shade for the little ones. They bake all day. The watchman also doubles up as a sweeper and handyman. Unless you are keen on joining a weird cult, steer clear of this place. Strange teachers and strange practices.
