Event Description : Bambalina presents “Don Quixote” Puppet theatre.
Music and Performing Arts.
On the occasion of the 4th centenary of the publishing of the second half of “Don Quixote”

Synopsis: Bambalina puppet theatre company retells the story of Don Quixote, a classic Spanish epic written in the 17th century by Miguel de Cervantes. Don Quixote is a middle-aged gentleman from the region of La Mancha in central Spain who, after years of obsessively reading books of chivalry, goes mad and decides to become an actual knight-errant like those in the tales he has read. The puppet show is an intimate portrait that recreates the spirit of Cervantes’s immortal work. Two artistes dressed in black, a table of light and shadow, precise gesturing and subtle music; all the necessary elements to recreate the wealth of humanism emanated from the main characters, Quixote and Sancho. The two actormanipulators portray a set of perspectives that take the expression and narrative possibilities of the show to the limit. Among some of the adventures in this show, it is worth mentioning the episode in which Don Quixote thinks windmills to be giants, leading to a fierce battle.
About the company: Bambalina is a prominent puppet theatre company which uses in its shows an interdisciplinary theatrical language in tune with the most contemporary dramas. Along its long history, the company has put on stage some emblematic titles of universal literary and musical repertoire as Pinocchio, Don Quixote, Cyrano de Bergerac, Alice in Wonderland, El Retablo de Maese Pedro, The Soldier's Tale, Cenerentola and Carmen. It has also developed a line of more personal creation with proposals like The Garden of Earthly Delights, Passion, The Smile of García Lorca, The sky in a room, Kraft, The unreal woman or Cosmos.
