Event Description : 'Orientations' a solo show of painting and printmaking by the French artist Annabel C.Schenck.
Her recent large-scales engravings, paintings will be on display. 

About the Artist / Speaker : Annabel Chatterjee Schenck is a visual artist whose body of work is composed by paintings & large-scale engravings.Her works have been shown in leading galleries in France and India. She earned her Master's from France's premier fine arts school - Ecole Nationale des Arts Décoratifs. She has been a foreign visiting fellow at Visva Bharati University, established by Tagore. Presently she shares her time between France and India.
    Annabel uses the crossing-out as a graphic language to express her quest on identity: transforming reality represented in landscape, it becomes a playground of confronting disparate elements while the image contains her own confrontation between places of life and identity. She draws by crossing-out, erasing traces and these traits are woven and assembled in the form of a visual writing. These erasures/scratches refer to notions of doubt or confusion, which her current exhibition is based on. However, in her works, ambiguity and encounter due to conflicting identities do not lead to confusion, on the contrary it enriches the artist's narrative, language and technique to grasp and imbibe diversity.
