5th Anniversary celebration by Nanhi Chhaan Foundation 

New Delhi, August 27th, 2013 : Maneckshaw Centre, Delhi Cantonment brightened up with smiles as Nanhi Chhaan Foundation chaired by Mr. Harpal Singh, celebrated its 5th Year of creating awareness on restoring the gender ratio and increasing tree cover in the country. The rich cultural extravaganza presenting participants from various schools and organizations was presided by Shri Salman Khurshid as the Chief Guest and Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia as the Guest of Honor. 

The soul of Nanhi Chhaan Foundation is the manifestation of the very fact that just like a little girl grows into a mother – the very embodiment of giving and nurturing, similarly a sapling grows into a tree – the universal provider. The relationship that these two share is profound; they have lives depending on their existence. 

On the occasion Mr. Harpal Singh, Mentor & Chairman Emeritus, Fortis Healthcare Ltd., and Chairman, Nanhi Chhaan Foundation said, “It is a feeling of fulfillment to see such young children empathize with causes that need everyone’s attention in today’s time. The state of affairs is alarming and the plight of decreasing number of girls, dwindling green belt and growing intolerance between faiths with every passing year is disturbing. It’s time when we all together made an effort and paved the way for a better future.” 

The most important but ignored reality is, if women are not born we won’t see a new tomorrow and if trees don’t survive there won’t be a planet to harbor us.

Mr.Salman Khurshid, External Affairs Minister addressed the distinguished gathering of cabinet and state ministers, top politicians, bureaucrats, educationists, students along with the media fraternity. 
Patrons from all walks of life attended the celebrations and showed their support towards the cause while participants performed dance, skits etc.

The evening saw the following patrons live up to the cause they vouch by: Mr. Jyotiraditya Scindia (Minister of State, Ministry of Power), Mr. Arun Maira (Member, Planning Commission), Mr. Rajendra Pawar (Chairman, NIIT ltd),  Mrs Rekha Purie, Dr. Prannoy Roy  and Mr Malvinder Singh (Chairman, Religare and Fortis Healthcare) 

The various institutes that participated at the 5th Year Anniversary celebration of Nanhi Chhann were Salwan School, Park College, Coimbatore, Fortis, Scindia School, Save The Children, Shovana Narayana & Troupe, GHPS, Ganganagar.
