István Szőnyi (1894 - 1960), one of the most prominent Hungarian painters of the 20th century, studied besides Academy of Fine Art in the workshop of modern Hungarian painting, in Nagybánya, later he studied the works of the neoclassicists and Cézanne, Van Gogh as well as some eminent masters of Hungarian activism in the hope of painting large-scale compositions. Béla Kondor (1931 - 1972) was a Hungarian painter, prose writer, poet, photographer, and avant-garde graphic artist. It might not be a stretch to say that Béla Kondor was the most distinctive artist of his generation and even of post-war Hungarian art.
