A.L.P.A.N.A. presents "Indradhanush 2009" music & dance items by their classical dancers, singers & special children at PSK - 22nd May 09

Event Details : INDRADHANUSH 2009 is a kaleidoscope of different dance and music items presented by the little wonders, budding classical dancers and singers and special children of A.L.P.A.N.A.
INDRADHANUSH starts with a Saraswati Vandana Maa Saraswati Sharade presented by talented singers. The song is based on Raga: Mishra and Taal: Dadra
Next song Kanha Madhura Bana Vanshi Bajawata……. is a classical song based on Raga: Desh and Taal: Tritaal
The third song is a Bhajan Jay Narayan Bramha Parayan… which will be played by our budding musicians on Casio along with the singers.
The last music item is a Rajasthani Folk song Ayore Maro Dholna…

Now comes the turn of tge special children who will invoke Bhakti (devotion) in the audience with their spell binding dance performance based on the song, Prabhuji Daya Karo……..
Alpana's Talented Odissi dancers will begin their repertoire with Mangalacharana. Traditionally an Odissi dance recital starts with Mangalacharana, where the dancer dedicates herself to the Almighty and begs forgiveness from Mother Earth for stamping feet on Her, begs apology from the audience of any shortcomings and pays obeisance and seeks blessings from her Guru. In Mangalacharana dancers will begin with a prayer to Goddess Saraswati Manikya Veena Mupala Layanti…….. written by Mahakavi Kalidasa. In this shloka the Goddess has been depicted as “Jagat Janani,” “Vak Vilasini,” “Sangeet Rasike” and “Kalyani.”

The next item is Basanta Pallavi. The word “Pallavi” has been derived from the Sanskrit word pallava, which means the bud of a leaf, or the shoots of a tree, which are very tender. As a small seed grows gradually into a large tree, in Pallavi, a tune is sung in a particular raga and it develops gradually into different varieties. The Pallavi that will be a solo presentation by Tanmay Aggarwal is based on Basanta Raga and Ektali Taal.
Batu, which is a Nritta or pure dance, depicts different sculptural postures of ancient temples of Orissa. This item is devoid of lyric and hence there is no Bhava-Abhinaya or expression.

Alpana's talented budding Odissi dancers will present Kharvam Sthula Tanu Gajendra Badanam - a prayer to Lord Ganesha, the God of Wisdom and the God of Dance and also an Oriya song Tandava Nritya Kari Gajanana….

Artists: Ashima, Anuprerna, Prerna, Uma, Pranjal, Sneha, Navya, Disha, Ananya, Pallavi, Sipra, Tanisha
The next item is Mohana Pallavi, which is again a pure dance item. In this item equal importance is given to dance as well as music and rhythm. The movements in this item are extremely graceful and lyrical.

Artists: Yastika, Arushi Setia, Sonali, Vidhi and Ridhi
The last item Shreeta Kamala Kucha Mandala…. is an excerpt from “Geetagovinda” written by the great Oriya Poet Jayadeva. In this poem the poet has hailed the glory of Lord Vishnu, who wears earrings of precious stones and beautifully designed garland, who is the killer of the poisonous Kaliya snake, who is the vanquisher of the three demons –Madhu, Mura and Naraka, whose vehicle is Garuda-the king of birds, who as Rama married Sita and killed the demon Dushan and the ten-headed Ravana, who held the Mandar mountain on his little finger and whose face is as gorgeous as the clouds. The poet prays for the glorification of the Lord.
