PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION "Distance and Proximity" at Vadehra Art Gallery, Okhla - 12th to 31st July 08

• Event Details : DISTANCE AND PROXIMITY is dedicated to the clear, even austere vision of the famous photographers Bernd and Hilla Becher and their former photography students at the Düsseldorf Academy of Art.
• Bernd Becher, professor at the Academy from 1976 to 1996, Hilla Becher and several of their former students are not only the most influential photographers of our time but also major artists on the international scene. A German photographer team and a married couple, they were best known for their collection of industrial building images, examining the similarities and differences in structure and appearance. They received the Hasselblad Award in 2004.
• The exhibition presents 76 works, some of them extra large. The work selected is a reflection of the artists' shared approach to the chosen motifs as well as their artistic position.
• The artists are Bernd and Hilla Becher, Andreas Gursky, Candida Höfer, Axel Hütte, Simone Nieweg, Thomas Ruff, Jörg Sasse, Thomas Struth, Petra Wunderlich
