  • Workshop Details : Habitat Film Club presents ‘Hindi Cinema Meets Hitchcock’ by Richard Allen.
  • Hitchcock is one of the most influential directors in the history of cinema. This weekend course will look at Hitchcock's influence on Hindi cinema via remakes, the use of recognizable Hitchcockian idioms and tone, indirect quotations or allusions that evoke a specific Hitchcockian iconography or stylistic idiom retooled to different narrative circumstances.
  • Lectures will include clips from Hitchcock films as well as Hindi films. Screenings of selected Hindi films like Kohraa, Jewel Thief, Humraaz and Hitchcock's Psycho will allow a space for detailed discussion and analysis.
  • Richard Allen is the Professor and Chair of Cinema Studies at the New York University. His most recent publication is Hitchcock's Romantic Irony (Columbia University Press, 2007). He has edited two volumes of essays on Hitchcock and is also co-editor of The Hitchcock Annual and an anthology of essays from this journal will be published in the Fall by Wallflower Press.
