  • Time : 11:00 am, 3:00 pm & 6:00 pm
  • Event Details : Film Screening ‘One has to hurry, everything disappears: The Photography Couple Bernd and Hilla Becher’
  • Bernd and Hilla Becher are in their studio in DĂ¼sseldorf, reviewing the last four decades of their photographic work. Timbered houses, water towers, furnaces, winding towers, lime kilns, gas tanks, constructions of a lost industry culture. One can recognize Becher-photos at first sight: black and white, sober, precise, always on a grey background, shot from a slightly heightened angle. Their photographs look unchanged since the 1960s.
  • In the documentary, Bernd and Hilla Becher provide insights into their work place, the work itself, their motives and way of working. They talk about why they confine themselves to black and white photographs and why three shots of a winding tower are sufficient. They explain their favourite light for photographs and the difficulties in obtaining licenses for photography.
