Small Electric Car 'Reva' launched in Delhi by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit - 25th June 08

Battery Operated Electric car 'Reva' is unveiled by Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit with a discount of 29.5 %. It's the first time that Government is involved in a car launch and there are plans to offer subsidies to hybrid cars to fight pollutiong and rising prices of petrol and diesel.
Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said, "We will certainly consider concessions for the hybrid cars and welcome any new technology that helps improve air quality".
The base moded price was Rs 4.25 lakh vehicle which will come down to Rs 2.99 lakh after concession.
Reva Electric Car Company (RECC) Deputy Chairman Chetan Maini revealed that they are planning to increase the manufacturing of electric cars in the coming years.
I't s a good news for companies which are launching hyrid vehicles.
Just few days back, Honda Civic hybrid ( Honda Siel Cars India launches Honda Civic Hybrid - 18th June 08 ) was launched and there was complaint about no support by Government but it will change now.

Sheila Dixit said, "We are deeply concerned about what will happen to the air quality with the increasing number of cars in Delhi. Diesel as we all know is the greatest polluter." It makes sense as 1000 new vehicles are being registered everyday in Delhi.

So, this is a beginning in the right direction towards achieving the goal of minimal pollution to protect the environment.
