Legends of India

  • About Legends of India : Legends of India ( LOI ) is, perhaps, the only organization of its kind in India. Launched ten years ago, in 1998, by two enterprising individuals, Dipayan Mazumdar and Krishna Bhadra, it was soon converted to a non-profit Society and is today recognized as one of the most prestigious art events in the country by artists and art lovers.
  • Over this decade, Legends of India has organized more than 25 festivals across the country and presented over 150 artistes, who include 'Legends' of Indian Classical art forms, besides 'Legends in the making' and artists from across the border.
  • One of the prime aims of the Society is to promote and nurture traditional Indian art forms, which is, sadly, in danger of dilution and decay. The GENEXT is more aware of Western traditions and current trends than our own rich heritage. Our established artists receive more appreciation abroad than in their own country. To encourage and recognize those living legends, Legends of India has introduced Lifetime Achievement Awards, which have been awarded to such stalwarts for his/her peerless contributions in Music/Dance. The recipients have been Birju Maharaj, Krishen Khanna, Yamini Krishnamurthy, Zohra Segal, Habib Tanvir, Ustad Abdul Halim Jaffer Khan, Chandralekha, Vidwan T.M.Thiagarajan and a host of others.
  • Legends of India also provides a common platform for established artists and young talents.
