- Event Info : A glimpse of his journey from Lakshadweep to Laddakh via Delhi. Shamim Akhtar is a passionate photograher. He has been capturing life since the age of 11 & during his worry free days, he clicked images in Lashadweep. He has also written a book with his wife on Lakshadweep which will be released by Shri Wajahat Habibullah on 30th May at Casuarina Hall, India Habitat Centre.
- He came to Delhi in 2000 on transfer and could witness the plight of this Historical City, which was once a LIVE one. Through out his rough postings as SDM (Daryaganj) to S.P (Tihar Jail) to Dy. Director (Social Welfare), he got to see a face of this city which was unknown to him even in his JNU days. LIFE took away all the colours and he started his romance with B&W photography which he has been doing since the age of 12 in his make shift dark-room.The B&W view of Delhi he captured between 2000 to May 2007 is his best work so far at least from his own point of view. These are self-Processed and self printed on Ilford multigrade Papers. An effort.... to revive the old art and romance of Black and White Photography....
- In June 2006, he got to fulfil his dream of riding solo on his motorbike to Leh.... he could see colour after a long time... these photographs are a glimpse of a very mighty valley. Originally shot on 135mm TPs and Scanned and printed.
